Planning a trip with Bikes

Planning a trip

To create a trip plan you need to enter both a starting location (origin) and an ending location (destination). For information about stops, schedules, or service at a specific location, please click the closest stop & next bus link above.

The Trip Planner recognizes most street intersections and addresses as well as many landmarks in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties. If what you entered is not immediately recognized, the Trip Planner will offer you a list of options. You can choose one of the options, but if your intended location is not there, select the "Revise Original Entries" link to return to the entry page and change the entries you have already made.

Helpful Tips
The trip planner recognizes three types of locations: address, intersections and landmarks. The following tips will help you enter in locations that the trip planner can easily recognize as one of these valid location types.

Addresses:
  1. Do NOT type in the City, State or Zip
  2. You do not need to type in "Ave","St",etc. The trip planner will automatically bring up options for you choose from. EXAMPLE: 7100 Hardeson. Don't forget to put in the address number as the trip planner uses this to recognize it as a street address.
  3. Some streets and addresses are unknown to the Trip Planner. You may need to enter another nearby location, such as an intersection or a landmark.
  4. If you are unfamilliar with the area, you can simply type in the name of the city you are going to and list of landmarks will be automatically generated for you.
Intersections
  1. Type the "&" symbol between two street names to show an intersection. (EXAMPLE: Evergreen Way & Casino)
  2. You don't need to type in the city. The Trip Planner shows the possible city names as options if needed.
  3. You dont need to type in the directional designations for streets, but if a direction name is part of a street name, you should include it. (EXAMPLE: type 3rd & Main instead of 3rd S & S Main. But type 34th & West Viewmont for 34th W & West Viewmont Way W.)
  4. Some streets and addresses are unknown to the Trip Planner. You may need to enter another nearby location, such as an intersection or a landmark.
  5. If you are unfamilliar with the area, you can simply type in the name of the city you are going to and list of landmarks will be automatically generated for you.
Landmarks
The Trip Planner recognizes many landmarks. Using a landmark as a location can be a very efficient way of planning a trip as many bus routes have been designed to cater to these locations. Our landmarks include the following landmark types:
  1. Government Sites
  2. Major Commercial Sites
  3. Transportation Facilities
  4. Schools & Colleges
  5. Sports & Leisure
  6. Medical Facilities
  7. Transit Centers
  8. Park and Ride Lots
  9. Metro Tunnel Stations
Stop IDs
Community Transit's trip planner also provides the capability to plan a trip from one of our bus stops. Simple enter in the numeric 4-digit number clearly posted in white with a blue background located on the top right of our bus stop signposts located at each Community Transti stop.
